Can I call or meet with you?
Of course! We provide a free one-hour consultation and welcome any questions you have. We realize that the process can be new and confusing, but we would like you to have the information you need to succeed, no matter who you end up using. Each project is different, so please contact us so we can customize it to fit your needs.
How much does it cost?
Our current rate is $85/hour and we can provide a detailed quote for your specific projects. We prefer to tailor the service to you as opposed to having preset packaged amounts. To get started, we need a signed contract and paid retainer. The retainer is the first 10 hours or 50% of the project, whichever is less.
What kind of payments do you take?
We have Google Checkout and PayPal accounts to handle most credit cards. Just ask for a payment request. We also accept checks made out to Beneficial Design. If you are sending a payment in the mail, please make sure you send it to our PO Box listed on this page.
What if I change my mind after we get started?
Our contract states that any unused hours will be refunded from the paid retainer.
How long does it take until my website is live?
In general, a website takes about 4-8 weeks for going back and forth with designs, layouts and previewing content. Logos, business cards and print materials can make this process even longer. Each case is different, so it could take more or less. Please call us if you want an exact quote.
What is the process to create a website?
After we have the formal paperwork out of the way, we sit down and discuss colors and the style that will be appropriate for your business. Then we start with sketches or quick designs that can be emailed to you.
After you approve the designs, we code it and create a preview site under our domain name (beneficialdesign.com/yourbusinessname) so that we can play around with content and photos until we get it just right. During this process, we recommend that you share designs and ideas with your friends and family and welcome all feedback. Then, when the site is completely ready, we post it live onto your hosting server and the site is live for the world to see.
Do you host the site?
No, we recommend you purchase your own domain and hosting services. We have heard too many sad stories of designers and agencies no longer supporting their sites and business owners left high and dry because of it. If you purchase your own domains and hosting, you can go to any web designer/developer at any point in time and your site will stay up, while you stay in control.
Do you test your sites?
We thoroughly test all our sites in the following browsers: Internet Explorer 6 & 7, FireFox 1 & 2 and Safari 2 & 3. All on multiple PC and Mac systems.
Do I own the copyright to the designs?
Yes, our contract transfers all rights to any designs we produce for you, to you. We only use your designs in our portfolio. Our contract also protects passwords, proprietary and personal information, and any financial information you give us. We shred all outdated paperwork and store the rest under lock and key.
