small business tip: greening your business holiday season
With the holidays upon us, you have probably read some great ways to green your personal gift giving, but what can your business do? Here are a few ideas that easily span both business and personal giving:

  • Waste Free Holidays - Give Experiences Instead of Stuff: Sign-up to promote your business services at a discounted rate in your local community or find a similar listing that puts your business name in a positive light. You could also give memorable experiences to your employees instead of "stuff" this year by using this site to buy tickets for sporting events, plays, spa treatments and more. This is local to Washington, so you may need to look up (or start!) a similar service in your area.

  • Gifts That Keep On Giving: There are so many organizations that are looking for donations this time of year. Instead of sending out physical gifts, see if there is a worthy cause that you can donate to in your employee's, client's or business's name. Try Give.org or CharityNavigator.org.

  • Rethink the Company Holiday Card: Almost all seasonal cards end up in they recycling bin after the holidays. Consider sending a well-designed, personable email to your clients and customers containing a warm happy message.

  • Giving Time: Give your employees and extra day off, or your clients a free hour or two, or even volunteer your own time to a charity. Giving the gift of time has more value than any gift card, plastic toy or box of chocolates.

  • Speak Up: Call your tax person, meet with your print service rep, or have coffee with an employee and tell them how well they are doing and why you like working with them. Letting them know exactly why you appreciate what they have done for you can give anyone a warm and fuzzy feeling.

congrats to all who have launched
