Shauna James Ahern, Author
Seattle, Washington

website: glutenfreegirl.com

services provided:
custom blog redesign (twice), business cards, save-the-date cards, invitations, food cards

problem:
Shauna had used a pre-made template when she first set-up her blog. She quickly outgrew the space and needed a wider content area for her wonderful photos and narratives. With her upcoming book release and speaking engagements, she needed to appear more professional.

solution:
We custom coded her blog, designed a top banner with her favorite photo, widened the middle column to showcase her horizontal photos and ran product ads vertically down the right side. We then applied the same look to the business cards to create a cohesive appearance.

green highlights:
Her successful blog readership allows her to communicate mostly by email instead of sending out any printed materials, but her in-person appearances called for some kind of hand-out. Both sets of business cards were printed digitally which significantly reduces the amount of waste from traditional printing methods.

from the client:
“For the past couple of months, I have had the pleasure of working with Kaytlyn Sanders, who runs beneficial design. We met after I put up a little ad on Craigslist, asking for help. There were numbers of offers. When I met her at my local organic coffee house, I knew within two minutes that she was the right one. Her open eyes, gentle laughter, and keen design sense made me feel comfortable. This website is my baby. I knew I could hand it over to her without fear that she would drop it. We have been conferring over emails and cups of coffee, laughing at life and becoming friends, in the process. She's lovely. She understood that I wanted a clean, clear look, with plenty of white space, and a readable font (finally!). I had taken this website as far as I could, alone. But now, I know: there’s no need to go it alone anymore. A huge, heartfelt thank you to Kaytlyn. You have made this space feel like my home.”
